Marek Hamsik cancelled out Sami Khedira's early opening goal as Napoli drew 1-1 with Serie A leaders Juventus on Gonzalo Higuain's first return to Stadio San Paolo.

Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko had kept Roma's title hopes ticking over on Saturday with both goals in a 2-0 win over Empoli. Still, we're set up for an eye-popping Coppa match in a few days' time, and all eyes will be on Italy for that game.

Hamsik levelled for Napoli by finishing off a Dries Mertens throughball and the Belgian nearly put his side in front only to be denied by the post, with neither side able to find a victor.

It seems only a matter of time before Juventus seal their sixth consecutive Serie A title, with Massimiliano Allegri's side having stormed eight points clear of AS Roma at the top of the table.

April 3, 2017- Serie A leaders Juventus withstood prolonged pressure as they held out for a tense 1-1 draw at third-placed Napoli in an absorbing match on Sunday.

"The game started really badly, as going behind after seven minutes to a side like Juventus who defend so well could have really caused huge problems".

"The jeers were inevitable for Gonzalo, they will pass with time".

Juve are entering a hard stage of the campaign, with a home meeting with Chievo following the double-header against Napoli and preceding a Champions League quarter-final clash with Barcelona. I recall that Juve, as a result of the victory over Porto, got a ticket to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and at the end of February, defeating Napoli, went to the final of the Italian Cup.

Napoli, playing at home, upped the ante and came out with series of attacks.

A neat reverse pass from Mertens freed Hamsik as the pair swapped passes and the captain made no mistake with a blasted finish into the roof of the net, giving Buffon no chance.

Napoli were almost gifted a second goal when Mertens intercepted Kwadwo Asamoah's backpass but could only shoot against the foot of the post from a narrow angle.

The Argentine received a predictably angry response from the Napoli faithful on his return to the club on Sunday and his goalless run extended to five games after an ineffective display.

Higuain was worshipped in the balmy southern port city as the striker banged home a historic 36 goals last season as Napoli made the cut for the Champions League.

- Juventus have conceded only four goals in their last 11 Serie A games (W9 D2). Throughout his history, Juventus in Naples won only twice, however from 12 matches, only two remained without a goal scored.
