McDonald's 20-year-old dipping sauce sells for nearly $15000 on Ebay

In 1998, McDonald's launched a short-lived promotional Szechuan sauce to coincide with the release of the Disney film Mulan.

"I just bought a really old auto, while cleaning it I found a packet of this sauce", the seller states, not specifying whether the packet was found under the front seat or in the glovebox or what.

A packet of old McDonald's limited-edition Szechuan sauce has sold on Ebay for almost £15,000 (£11,500) after being popularised in an episode of Rick and Morty.

The listing ended April 11, and states that "I hope somebody who wants to eat some 20 year old gnarly sauce gets this". Ever since being featured prominently in the surprise season three premiere, nostalgia for the limited edition condiment has reached a fever pitch, with people trying to figure out how to make their own at home and McDonald's even considering giving into fan pressure and bringing it back. Turns out it was.

There were 187 bids on the sauce until the clock finally ran out with the $14,700 bid as the victor.

In the show, time-traveling scientist Rick Sanchez admitted that his sole motivation in life is "finding that McNugget sauce" - and that the cult show would continue as long as it takes until he finds the sauce. Season nine more seasons Morty, nine more seasons until I get that dipping Szechuan sauce, for 97 more years, Morty.

"I just bought a really old vehicle".

A petition to bring the sauce back has over 36,000 signatures as of Wednesday morning. Plus, the timing is flawless: Mulan will be remade into a live-action film next year, and it's pretty clear that bringing back this promotional offer would be well-received.
