Martavis Bryant officially reinstated

The NFL will review Bryant's progress prior to the regular season and reinstate him if he follows the required protocol.

Colbert said he appreciates that Bryant has taken necessary steps to get back, but adds: "We also understand that this is just the beginning as he works to return to the team and meet all the conditions of his reinstatement". Calling the reinstatement conditional simply means that it will be easier for the National Football League to pull the plug on his return than it would have been to suspend him again under the procedures of the substance-abuse policy if he had violated any of the terms of his treatment plan.

The NFL conditionally reinstated the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver on Tuesday, clearing the way for the talented but enigmatic Bryant to return to the team to prepare for the 2017 season. There had been talk around the Steelers facility that they may have had to move on from Bryant and draft a playmaking receiver to complement Antonio Brown. The receiver will be permitted to participate in all preseason activities after arrangements for his clinical resources in Pittsburgh have been confirmed, according to the team's release. "I would just show up on Sunday and play", Bryant said. The momentum stalled last March when he was suspended for at least a year after again running afoul of the drug policy.

Bryant had been a major factor in the Steelers passing attack before missing the entire 2016-2017 season.

Bryant has 76 catches, 1,314 yards and 14 touchdown receptions in 21 career games, and at 25, seemingly has plenty of time to start racking up the numbers.

"We look forward to working with Martavis to ensure that he is mentally and physically prepared to contribute to our efforts on the field..."

The Steelers begin organized team activities next month.
