Jair reportedly made it to the fourth floor of the building where she interns on April 10, put a sign in the window, and begged her to marry him.

Jair Nilton Cardoso, 30, went up to the fourth floor of the Manhattan building where 18-year-old Malia is now interning, held up a sign, and starting shouting that she should marry him on April 10, sources told the New York Daily News.

He was kicked out by two Secret Service agents assigned to Malia's detail.

Only two days later, Cardosa allegedly followed Obama at a different location in the West Village. According to the Daily News, they recognised him as a man who had "repeatedly tried to get into the White House in the past".

Again, he was sent away without law enforcement action.

It said the Secret Service interviewed him at his home and concluded that he has mental health issues and took him to hospital to be evaluated.

None of the previous alleged stalking incidents were reported to the NYPD until Tuesday.

She is interning at the Weinstein Company while living in New York City during the spring, as she completes a gap year before attending Harvard in the fall, notes Page Six. At this moment, it is not clear in what capacity Obama will eventually work but it is a pleasant step forward in an industry that continues to face problems in terms of appointing women and women of color. Malia has also interned on the set of HBO's "Girls" during the summer of 2015 and also worked as a production assistant for Halle Berry's Steven Spielberg-produced CBS show "Extant".

After graduating high school last year, Obama is now on a gap year.
