LeBron James vs. Tristan Thompson: Angry exchange of words

It was a game that went into double overtime and needed 52 minutes from LeBron James for the Cavaliers to pull out the win.

For the 2nd time this season, six players reached double figures in scoring (James - 41, Irving - 23, Love - 20, Smith - 18, Thompson - 12, Frye - 10).

"I was a little bit too demonstrative at that point in the game". "He worked hard for our team, he's a big-time player. but the way it came out was - it didn't look good on TV". I had the right intentions in my mind, but I had the wrong intentions come out of my mouth.

Thompson, who exited the locker room before the vast majority of the reporters in it had a chance to talk to him, downplayed the incident.

"It was a great test for us, especially with the postseason coming up", Thompson said.
Now we'll move forward. He also had a target on his back on defense, as the Cavaliers continued to get mismatches with him and took advantage. "Not going to get into (the reasons), just miscommunication, like I said".

"I will give whatever I have, and do whatever I have to do", George said. Move forward. It is what it is. They were mad and frustrated and we wanted to win that game.

During a timeout in the second overtime period, Cavs teammates Tristan Thompson and LeBron James began shouting at each other. It wouldn't have been as big of an issue if the team hit their open shots, but the Cavs struggles combined with defensive lapses allowed the Pacers to tie the game up late in the third.

George was magnificent in defeat, scoring 19 straight points for in in the overtime sessions and adding nine rebounds and nine assists.

The Pacers meanwhile fell to 37-40, leaving them in a tie for eighth place with the Miami Heat.

"If we play like that to finish the season off I'll be happy with where we land", George said. "If we can give this effort, we'll make the playoffs".

Love followed with a 3-pointer, and after IN called timeout, a heated Thompson stormed to the bench and shouted at James. LeBron and Paul George had an epic duel tonight and LBJ got the last laugh, as his team walked away with a 135-130 victory. "It's part of the game", Lue said. The Chicago Bulls defeated the New Orleans Pelicans, so they gained ground on both IN and Miami for that 7th seed IN the Eastern Conference. Love posted a double-double in all three game he played against in this season and averaged 20.3 points on.478 (22-46) shooting and 12.7 rebounds in 35.3 minutes.

Lance Stephenson brought the expected energy in his return to the Pacers, scoring four points, dishing three assists, and pulling in three rebounds in 18 minutes. With little time left and no margin for error, coach Nate McMillan will treat the rest of the regular season as if the playoffs are underway.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard/forward Kyle Korver (foot) isn't expected to play on Sunday against the Indiana Pacers.

Neither team scored the remainder of regulation, with Thompson missing two free throws after a highly questionable foul on George with 26 seconds left.

Russell Westbrook's tilt at National Basketball Association history continued with his 40th triple-double of the season in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 113-101 defeat to the Charlotte Hornets.

James didn't only have words with Thompson.

The two have battled before, with Stephenson infamously blowing into James' ear during the 2014 Eastern Conference finals.

Regardless of the particulars, James was quick to say he could have handled the situation better. "He's had a rough year with injuries and things of that nature".
