Grounded: Trump not allowed to use personal copter as president

The president's sixth weekend in Palm Beach proved eventful, beginning with his arrival on Thursday, the first of two days of meetings with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

President Barack Obama, also an avid golfer, waited months before playing a round when he first entered office.

Trump was seen again this Sunday making a trip to his Trump International Golf Course, with photographers catching him driving a cart and practicing his putting, CNN reported. He spent several weekends with his family at Camp David, the presidential retreat in the Catoctin Mountains of Maryland, and returned to Chicago for a weekend at his private home.

The Trump-branded chopper was parked on his new helipad from Saturday to Sunday before it eventually whisked off without him, according to the Palm Beach Daily News.

Back at Mar-a-Lago, guests also noted that there was a significant change in atmosphere during the course of the weekend.

During the campaign, Trump said that as president, he would probably never see his own golf courses again because he'd be too busy working.

Nine planes breached the temporary flight restrictions seen each time Trump travels to Mar-a-Lago, the FAA said Monday.

He said: "You know what - and I love golf - but if I were in the White House, I don't think I'd ever see Turnberry again, I don't think I'd ever see Doral again, I own Doral in Miami, I don't think I'd ever see numerous places that I have". The meeting was upstaged by Friday's USA missile attack on a Syrian air base to punish the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for using chemical weapons on its own civilians. I don't think I'd ever see Doral again - I own Doral, in Miami.

Mr Trump, who has teed off with the likes of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and champion professionals Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, frequently vented his frustrations about Obama's penchant for golf on Twitter over the years. I just wanna stay in the White House and work my ass off, make great deals, right? Trump said he should been consulting lawmakers instead. "Who's gonna leave? I mean, who's gonna leave?"
