Fans thought first 'Star Wars' was a joke: Mark Hamill

General Leia

While attending Star Wars Celebration 2017 in Orlando, Florida, a fan asked The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson why he chose to slightly adjust the location of Kylo Ren's face scar. The two biggest running theories so far are that the Last Jedi trailer was modeled after the trailer to Man of Steel and that The Ladi Jedi and The Force Awakens trailers are essentially the same thing, just different iterations of each other. It had moved several inches on the character's face, now in line with his right eye.

The Internet quickly noticed the difference, and began questioning why the change was made.

It's that Kylo saw his scar, didn't think it looked "Darth Vader" enough, got in a Bacta tank, healed it, and then cut himself again in a cooler way.

Luke is set to play a key part in The Last Jedi, ominously declaring at the end of the first trailer "It's time for the Jedi to end".

He also said film fans will find out about Rey's parents.

And when a fan said it "wouldn't be Kylo's scar anymore", he replied with a snap of the original Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back.

The film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran and Andy Serkis. While some had wondered if it was simply a continuity error, or if it would somehow factor into The Last Jedi \/em \u0027s plot, the film\u0027s director Rian Johnson has now clarified otherwise.
