Bulls beat Celtics again, Raptors rebound

Grieving Isaiah Thomas to play Game 2, then fly to funeral

Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas plans to play Tuesday night in Game 2 of the first-round Eastern Conference playoff series against the Chicago Bulls as he continues to mourn from a family tragedy.

Crowder matched his career playoff high with 16 points as five Celtics reached double figures. The Bulls didn't trail in the second half, using a 10-0 scoring run - which included eight points from Wade - to build a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter on the way to the convincing win. Chicago was in a very early hole but quickly took control, and held that control for much of the game.

Isaiah Thomas played with a heavy heart Sunday, scoring 33 points in a 102-106 National Basketball Association playoff loss to the Chicago Bulls just one day after his younger sister was killed in a auto crash.

"He was incredible. He's an unbelievable player and an awesome person", Boston coach Brad Stevens said.

When Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg wants to slow down 5-9 guard Isaiah Thomas in a key moment against the Celtics, the 6-7 Butler will be on him.

"We're never going to make excuses, but this is hard", said the Celtics' Al Horford.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Bucks. Khris Middleton scored 20 points and Greg Monroe had 18.

"Everybody's putting in each work, watching film, working on their game", Butler said.

OAKLAND, Calif. - Golden State's Kevin Durant missed practice because of a strained left calf and is questionable for Wednesday's Game 2 against Portland, who again will be without center Jusuf Nurkic.

Last week, the Celtics were the toast of the East after outlasting the champion Cleveland Cavaliers for the top seed and home-court advantage.

If they are going to come out of Boston with a 2-0 series lead, then they are going to have to replicate what they did in the series opener. National talking heads will say "I told you so" and discuss the chances of an 8 seed upsetting a 1 seed.

The Celtics finished Game 1 with an offensive rating of 110.0, which is close to what their rating was during the regular season (111.1). "The best teams overcome any type of adversity".

But the Celtics were outrebounded 43-38 and shot 10-for-33 from 3-point range. Khris Middleton added 20 points for Milwaukee, who will seek to regain the series edge when they host game three on Thursday.

As you can imagine, not many players in Bulls franchise history have recorded 10 assists and five steals in a playoff game.
