Romelu Lukaku: Everton striker rejects new contract at Goodison Park

Romelu Lukaku has stunned Everton by informing them he will not sign a new contract in a move which will spark a summer transfer scramble.

The Belgian International's agent Mino Raiola was 99.99% certain of a contract extension back in December 2016.

Lukaku who has become Everton highest ever Premier League goalscorer has turned down a £130,000 a week contract from the club.

Further developments have now apparently seen the player inform the club after training on Tuesday that the new contract would remain unsigned.

However, Moshiri has reacted quickly to all the speculation and told Everton fans not to worry as their star striker is not going to Chelsea or anywhere else. "We have a strong relationship with the player and agent", Moshiri revealed to skysports.

Now Belgium's undisputed number one under Roberto Martinez, his development is of great concern in his home country, and DH sat down to discuss what the best option was for the player.

Lukaku has been strongly linked with a move in recent days thanks to ongoing contract negotiations with Everton that seem to have hit a brick wall.

But The Times offers an intriguing possibility for the future of the English Premier League's joint top scorer.

Romelu Lukaku certainly knows how to throw a spanner in the works of Ronald Koeman's project at Everton.

Several clubs had already tried to sign Lukaku in the summer, with Manchester United and Bayern Munich having bids rejected.

The rejection is a major blow to Everton's hopes of keeping the Belgium worldwide, having previously thought that their determination to break into the top four and willingness to spend in the transfer market - as demonstrated by the £22m signing of Morgan Schneiderlin - had convinced him to extend his stay at Goodison Park beyond this summer.
