All presidential budgets are fantasies - spending decisions are made by Congress, where anti-government ideology crashes into the realities of American life and politics. Together, the two spending boosts represent a total of $131 billion in proposed new military-related spending.

Trump's first budget will also feature substantial increases in spending for the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, law enforcement and school choice. So it's not obvious how slashing billions from the NIH budget, as the Trump administration proposes, will bring more jobs to America.
