Legion renewed for season 2

FX Networks

With only 3 episodes left for the debut season of Marvel and FX's LEGION, I've been wondering to myself whether or not Noah Hawley's new and mind-blowing X-Men-related psychological thriller would continue beyond its initial 8-episode order.

Are you happy to hear that FX's Marvel drama has been picked up for a second season?

If you've seen our recap of the first episode of Legion, you know that we at The Mary Sue are quite fond of the show. "Our thanks to Noah Hawley for taking the creative risks and shattering expectations".

Legion airs at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesdays on FX. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, he's been in and out of psychiatric wards for years and has a hard time deciphering what is real and what isn't. Now in his early 30s and institutionalized once again, David loses himself in the rhythm of the structured regimen of life in the hospital: breakfast, lunch, dinner, therapy, medications, sleep. The pleasant numbness of David's routine is completely upended with the arrival of a lovely and troubled new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller). With the help of his girlfriend and fellow mutant Syd (Rachel Keller), David winds up under the tutelage of Melanie Bird (Jean Smart), a therapist with unconventional methods and a unique team of specialists who aim to help David learn to control his powers and stay safe.

Hawley serves as Executive Producer, along with Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory and John Cameron. Although an official date has not been set, the show - which is written and produced by Fargo creator, Noah Hawley - is reported to make its big return in 2018.

The first season of Legion was a stunning achievement.
