KC businesses getting ready for Jayhawks' Sweet 16 game at Sprint Center

UCLA guard Lonzo Ball powers his way to the basket for a score against Kent State's Kevin Zabo who was called for a foul on the play during the first half

The NCAA Tournament is full of upsets, but this year has been quite tame.

The Wolverines were seeded eighth in the Big Ten Tournament and arrived in Washington, D.C., on the day of their first game because their team charter had slid off the runway in an aborted takeoff the previous day in MI. Some of our writers think so.

Josh Jackson was too good.

Kansas found itself in a back-and-forth battle early on with the Spartans.

While Swanigan is the main man for the Boilermakers, and is putting up 18 points per game in the dance, which is actually a tad below his 18.5 points per game on the season, Edwards has taken his game to the next level - and then some - in March. Nonetheless, MSU will see Langford transform into a go-to scorer who averages almost 15 points per game. And Michigan State's future is going to be better for it. Few teams have a 1-2 punch like Mason and Jackson, and nobody surpasses their grit. Kansas does not have the size they normally have, which helps the Spartans, who play a small lineup due to injuries. "I had to play this game". The kid is a college freshman, the most gifted player on one of the nation's spotlight teams. "He's a great player, so it's always good playing against him". Missed shots, turnovers and a missed presence on rebounds were to credit. MSU benefitted from the contributions from bench players with 10 of the team's first 22 coming from non-starting players.

In the Bridges vs. Jackson showdown, Jackson was the champion scoring 23 points on 9-16 shooting from the field. Senior point guard Frank Mason III did what Mason does, scoring 20 points, dishing five assists and relentlessly attacking the basket to create opportunities both for himself and his teammates.

Things were flowing Kansas' way late in the first half. Either way, Spartans fans will be able to hold their heads high Sunday night. "They were really good, and I thought that was the difference".

When Kansas settled down and ran sets, Michigan State struggled to limit the Jayhawks' athleticism around the rim. I believe MSU has an excellent opportunity to snatch a win.

"We've played in a lot of close games", Self said, per Nightengale. He clearly believes his team stacks up well with the Jayhawks. But Michigan State scored the last six points before the break on a Joshua Langford 3-pointer and three free throws by Bridges.

Frank Mason III is putting up 20.8 points per game in 2016-17, and - likely to no one's surprise - he has cracked the 20-point mark in back-to-back tournament games.

That was the last straw for Michigan State, as Kansas put all the pieces together and showed why it was one of the nation's best teams throughout the season. The rare Michigan State player who could go to the National Basketball Association after his freshman season, Bridges was terrific with 22 points and eight rebounds in defeat.
