Huawei P10 Lite promises flagship thrills at bargain prices

Huawei P10 coming soon

The smaller Huawei P10 will be priced at £499.99 ($620), while the P10 Plus will sport a £599.99 ($744) price tag, the company said. "During you run it will guide you in real time".

And straight away it is obvious they are created to compete with the Apple iPhone 7 line-up.

Huawei has set a benchmark for affordable, but high-end smartphones, and it wants to prove that you don't need to spend nearly €1,000 for a decent smartphone. The P10 Plus will go on sale shortly after on April 7.

The devices are just 6.98mm thick and have Gorilla Glass 5 panelling with nearly no bezel to the sides.

Processor: The P10 lite is powered by a Kirin 658 chip, an octa-core A53 processor, and Mali-T830MP2 GPU.

Aside from the camera, the other great feature about the phones is the battery life.

There's only a single rear camera on this model, however.

It is capable of shooting in 4K video and, thanks to a H.265 codec, videos can be compressed by 50pc.

Fingerprint scanner: Like its older brothers, the P10 lite also sports a fingerprint scanner on its back panel.

Luckily, we've done all the hard work for you, so all you have to do is read on. It will initially be available in black or gold, with other colour options coming later.

However, it's the introduction of the Portrait mode that grabbed the attention of many.

Under the hood, if you want that kind of complexity, it is all there in spades. Huawei's global network is built on 20 years of expertise in the telecom industry and is dedicated to delivering the latest technological advances to consumers around the world. The design of this device seems not to jump very far from that of Honor 8 Lite (P8 Lite 2017 as it is called in some regions), while retaining some elements from P10. My only niggle with the bolted on apps was unnecessary limitations.

So what do you get for your money? It's "Hoo-wa-way". Alright? So it being official doesn't really come as a surprise. Now, the device has finally seen the light of the day. For its price and features, the P10 Lite is looking to be a pretty stellar phone, and it could become the ideal midrange entry for those who might balk at the pricier P10 and P10 Plus. It's a nice change from the standard sandblasted look, and feels nice in the hand. The mid-range handset is expected to reach the fans in two weeks time with its planned launch on March 31, although we did wish it was sooner.

The Huawei P10 Lite is also the firm's cut-price smartphone to feature the firm's Knuckle Sense technology, that allows you to tap your knuckle on the screen to activate shortcuts, such as taking a screenshot.
