Potential health risk prompts dog food recall

No other Blue Buffalo products were impacted by the issue.

Blue Buffalo Company voluntarily recalled some of its BLUE Wilderness Rocky Mountain Recipe Red Meat Dinner Wet Food for Adult Dogs.

Consumers that purchased the Blue Wilderness Rocky Mountain Recipe Red Meat Dinner Wet Food for Adult Dogs (in a 12.5-ounce can) containing the UPC Code 840243101153, and posted with a "Best Buy Date" of June 7, 2019, should cease to offer the food to their pets.

Blue Buffalo Company has announced the recall of a brand of canned dog food that when ingested, could lead to vomiting, diarrhea and difficulty breathing. "Blue Buffalo immediately began an investigation, however, and after working with the FDA, Blue Buffalo decided it would be prudent to recall the one production lot in question". Long-term effects include vomiting, diarrhea and rapid or hard breathing.

Out of the two recalls, Blue Buffalo reports receiving one report from the Food and Drug Administration of a dog that displayed these symptoms after eating beef dog food, and Wellness reports receiving three reports forwarded of from the FDA.

A dog food product sold nationwide is being recalled due to a potential health risk.

Blue Buffalo, based in Wilton, CT, is a pet products company that makes natural foods and treats for dogs and cats.
