Rocket League, NBA 2K17 Free On Xbox One This Weekend

Rocket League on Xbox One will be free for a limited time

However, if you are new to Playstation's online gaming community, this is a flawless time to try out some online play with no pressure of commitment.

If you've got some multiplayer PS4 games you'd like to try but aren't now subscribed to PlayStation Plus, there's a new promotion coming up that you'll probably want to hear about.

The console wars are alive and well this winter break period as Sony and Microsoft vie to attract more players to their paid online subscription services, PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live.

Almost all multiplayer gaming requires an active subscription to access with the exception of free-to-play titles on PlayStation 4.

But what if you don't have those games? However, all multiplayer is free to access for everyone over the next few days. They are now bringing PS4 owners a full week of cooperative or competitive play, free of charge.

Play NBA 2K17 free now through Sunday February 19th.

However, in the European Union the free access runs from 10:00 on February 22 to 23:59 on February 26? "Hop on to PSN during the free week with your favorite multiplayer game - no membership commitment is required during this period".

Xbox One and 360 owners should act fast if they want to participate in the event.

"Calling all friends to participate in our Multiplayer All-Access event!"

As an added bonus, Xbox gamers will be given the chance to play with the person with the highest Gamerscore, Stallion83.

The new event will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 and will also include free trials on games like Rocket League and National Basketball Association 2K17.

Although the Xbox One promotion is a little shorter, it does come with a few extra features. Whilst it's free for the weekend, you have no excuse, right? The progress made will be imported into the full versions of National Basketball Association 2K17 and Rocket League.

The idea of the trial is to give non-subscribers the opportunity to sample the multiplayer elements of the games in their collection, perhaps for the first time. Players can even visit San Andreas with the online mode for Grand Theft Auto V during the free multiplayer period.

Check out the trailer for the event below, and game on!
