Political Scientist: President Trump Had A 'Rocky' First Month In Office

Aside from 26 hours spent traveling and visiting states like Pennsylvania and South Carolina, Trump divided his time between Washington and his Florida residence at Mar-A-Lago.

To date, Trump's trips to Mar-a-Lago have cost taxpayers more than $10 million, according to the Washington Post. The Post also reports that Eric Trump's trip to Uruguay ran $100,000 in hotel fees for Secret Service personnel.

Put this wasn't a regular president's day.

Scheduled to discuss the job with the president at Mar-a-Lago were his acting adviser, retired Army Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg; John Bolton, a former US ambassador to the United Nations; Army Lieutenant General HR McMaster and Lieutenant General Robert Caslen, superintendent of the US Military Academy at West Point.

Top House Republicans last week presented a rough sketch of a health overhaul to rank-and-file lawmakers that would void President Barack Obama's 2010 law and replace it with conservative policies. Currently, a lobbyist only has to register as such if they make more than $5,000 on lobbying per quarter, spend 20 percent or more of their time lobbying or contact more than one government official.

TRUNEWS correspondent Edward Szall was reporting live from the event, and spoke to a few rally attendees about what brought them to see the 45th commander-in-chief. It's predicted that Trump's vacations and family protection will easily cost that amount within two years - and hundreds of millions of dollars more within eight years.

Trump, reportedly a scratch golfer with a keen interest in the sport, has taken criticism over the hypocrisy of his golfing habit recently. However, that sense of achievement was not reflected in the mood of the American people, with his latest approval rating indicating him to be the most unpopular president in modern history at this stage of his tenure. The president's two sons, Eric and Donald, Jr.travel overseas often to conduct business. Additional details were not immediately available.

Trump hasn't yet announced whether he'll be back in town this coming weekend, but the Cleveland Clinic will be having it's annual fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, and the president does hate to miss a good party. One GOP leadership aide whose office has been working with the White House described the president as a "big picture guy" and said he expected Trump to defer to Capitol Hill on health care in particular. He's now in a world where he feels confined and its surroundings aren't yet familiar to him.
