Paneerselvam a betrayer, playing the dirty game of DMK : Sasikala

The Supreme Court today refused to give an urgent hearing on a PIL seeking to restrain AIADMK leader V K Sasikala from being sworn in as Tamil Nadu chief minister till it decides the disproportionate assets case against her.

The Election Commission also backed Panneerselvam's assertion and cited AIADMK's rules which stated that the interim general secretary can not sack Panneerselvam from party post.

Near Poes Garden, former minister B Valarmathi said the party cadres are perturbed that Panneerselvam has fallen into DMK's trap.

Feb 8: Panneerselvan says he personally does not have any suspicion on the death of Jayalalithaa, but that a commission of inquiry headed by a sitting Supreme Court judge will be set up to probe into the death. That Sasikala has packed off her legislators to hotels in Chennai where they have orders of not commiserating with the media and there are plans to whisk them away to Delhi is a sad commentary on attempts to keep them from meeting Panneerselvam. "If true, the matter is one of serious concern", said the bench.

Meanwhile late on Friday evening Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao refuted reports that he had sent his assessment of the political situation in Tamil Nadu to the Centre.

"All the MLAs are there like a single family, so there is no problem", she told reporters at a crowded Press meet.

The current Governor of Tamil Nadu Vidyasagar Rao, who also happens to be the Governor of Maharashtra, is the one who will put an end to this political uncertainty in the state.

Madhusudhanan is the third leader to be expelled for supporting the OPS camp in the past two days. "There is no obligation for the Governor should take a decision instantaneously at 5 o'clock", he said. A man of few words, he said some truths had to be told and that he was being guided by the spirit of "Amma" (mother) Jayalalithaa. There were indications though that there could be cross-voting in the assembly during the floor test.

The Governor has asked the Panneerselvam Cabinet to continue as "caretaker CM" until alternative arrangements are made. Rosaiah, a veteran Congress leader from AP, served as Governor of Tamil Nadu from 2011 to 2016. Sources in the Raj Bhavan said the Governor is expected in Chennai by Thursday noon.
