Lady Gaga's Halftime Show Started Off With a Subtle Anti-Trump Message

Video shot Sunday night at Super Bowl LI showed how Lady Gaga pulled off her high-flying opening number at NRG Stadium.

Via Michael McCarthy of Sporting News, FOX will employ a five-second delay during the pregame and halftime shows. Thanks to the one-of-a-kind Lady Gaga!

The Detroit show is part of Gaga's 48-date global tour, which kicks off August 1 in Vancouver. Fishnet tights, a bold red lip and a dark, overemphasised cat-eye make-up topped off with crystals, completed the star's Super Bowl performance look. Her show was fantastic, from her literally bungee jumping onto the stage to her epic mic drop at the end.

Playing the halftime show at the Super Bowl is an incredible, once in a lifetime (unless you're Beyoncé) opportunity, and it typically leads to enormous gains in terms of sales and charting placement. I don't want to give it away.

"I think I saw the halftime show before I ever made the decision that I wanted to be a songwriter".

So many assumed it was a case of how, not if, she would make that statement.

She began with a few lines from God Bless America and Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land from the roof of the stadium to a backdrop of drones displaying the American flag.

Lady Gaga also performed a bevy of hits, including Poker Face, The Edge of Glory and Bad Romance in a high-powered 13-minute set that included her jumping off both the roof and the stage.

"She is a protest singer". Check out updates from Lady Gaga on her Twitter page here.

Her long-time collaborator Tony Bennett - who worked with the Grammy Award-winning star on their 2014 album "Cheek to Cheek" - wrote on Twitter: 'Lady.the most super thing about the Super Bowl was you.just unbelievable!

In the very beginning of her performance, the pop artist sang "America the Beautiful" before quickly switching to, "This Land is Your Land", a Woody Guthrie tune popular in numerous protests that have taken place after President Trump took office.
