Donald Trump: Reince Priebus 'Doing a Good Job' Running 'Fine-Tuned Machine'

"Clearly", Fox News host Brian Kilmeade said Wednesday morning, "Reince Priebus and company are having trouble getting off the ground". However, Vox's Andrew Prokop views Breitbart's take on the problems of the administration as an exercise in factional projection, with the "Bannon Wing" of the Trump White House attributing the chaos it has wrought to, well, someone else - namely the top figure in the inner circle who was not part of the original band of "disrupters" who made the long march through the primaries with Trump. "This guy is doing an unbelievable job", Bannon told TIME about Priebus.

But Bannon was quick to pushback on claims that his camp is using the Flynn scandal as cover to undermine Priebus - even though if Priebus were to be sacked, Bannon would be able to consolidate his already powerful White House position.

"That's because Reince is getting the job done".

But the criticism of Priebus has begun to crescendo among some of Trump's biggest media boosters. Citing multiple internal sources from the White House, politics editor Matthew Boyle wrote that Priebus' future is "in doubt" due to the rough start Trump has had since taking office.

Breitbart claimed in a story on Tuesday that "multiple sources" within the White House are calling for Priebus to get the boot after the chaotic rollout of Trump's executive order on travel and immigration, which federal courts have now suspended.

Trump aides are particularly angry with a story published Tuesday by the conservative outlet Bannon once ran, Breitbart News, in which anonymous sources blamed Priebus for tumult at the White House and suggested that the chief of staff's job was in immediate jeopardy. "The story is totally untrue". "Reince is doing a great job. I couldn't ask any more from a partner", he said as quoted by CNN.

Amid the fury, Priebus has adopted a low-profile approach, quietly embracing his role as the guy whose job it is to keep an unruly White House running and granting few interviews.

Infowars, the fringe right-wing outlet that has been praised by Trump, had its own scathing report on Priebus.

Reince's purge of Flynn a "Pearl Harbor" for Trump loyalists.

Priebus was RNC chairman for six years and Wisconsin GOP chairman before that.

A longtime Trump confidante, Roger Stone, publicly attacked Priebus Wednesday and tweeted, "Sadly, Reince Priebus's leakers are harming [Trump]".

Ruddy's remarks and Breitbart's story aren't the only signs that some aligned with Trump want Priebus out. "I am not speaking for him, I am speaking for Chris Ruddy as I always have and will continue to do so".
