Bayern Munich must raise game for Arsenal: Arjen Robben

Arsene Wenger's future was plunged into further doubt on Wednesday (Feb 15) as Thiago Alcantara inspired Bayern Munich to a 5-1 rout of his hapless Arsenal team which left the Gunners facing a seventh straight Champions League last-16 exit.

Arsene Wenger insists the curtain will not come down on his managerial career even if he announces his departure from Arsenal in the next two months.

The Frenchman, however, refused to speak on whether he will leave the Emirates Stadium.

"No matter what happens, I will manage next season". The 67-year-old Wenger has won six FA Cups with Arsenal to go with the three EPL titles, but a European title has eluded him.

And, speaking after the heavy defeat, a dejected Wenger said: "It was a unusual game because I feel in the first half we played quite well and we had two good chances just before half-time".

"We don't want him to play at Real Madrid, nor go back to Barcelona, we don't give a f*ck where he plays, we just want him to fight along with other 10 players to get the results".

"I am used to the criticism".

"This is 20 years of work here". I am in a public job and I must accept that.

"I hate defeat and it's hard to take but I have the strength and experience to come back from that", he added ahead of Arsenal's fifth-round FA Cup tie away to non-league Sutton United on Monday. We have to deal with that with the media but we have to focus on what is in front of us. The team is what is important.

But I am now firmly of the opinion that he should leave at the end of the season and I feel sure he will. Wenger is a smart man and after Wednesday's game he should recognise enough is enough. "It's hard to take but I have the strength to respond". As long as you don't win everything, there is always something wrong.

"Everyone is waiting for this game and it'll be a big challenge for us", said Lewandowski.

The Match of the Day pundit was tweeting during the Champions League last-16 clash between Arsenal and Bayern Munich, which ended in a 5-1 win for the home side. "That's part of it and you have to accept that".
