Trump Tweet Takes Credit for Jackie Evancho's Surging Album Sales

"Jackie Evancho's album sales have skyrocketed after announcing her Inauguration performance", the President-elect said in a tweet.

"Jackie Evancho's album sales have skyrocketed after announcing her Inauguration performance", the president-elect tweeted. 'Some people just don't understand the "Movement,"' he added. On the Billboard 200 albums chart - which ranks the most popular albums of the week in the US based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA) - Someday at Christmas made it to No. 93 after the announcement, and dropped to No. 134 in the following chart week. As of this writing, Evancho's "Someday At Christmas" is number one on Billboard's Classical Albums chart.

And if there was indeed a boost from the announcement, it was short-lived - in the week of December 16 to December 23, Evancho's sales slid 33 percent, from 14,173 to 9,479.

Jackie Evancho, who rose to fame as an "America's Got Talent" finalist six years ago, will belt out "The Star Spangled Banner" at Trump's presidential inauguration.

Evancho has also performed for President Barack Obama at the 2010 National Christmas Tree Lighting.

Furthermore, Evancho performed on the America's Got Talent holiday special, which aired on NBC on December 19 and re-aired on December 29, and likely helped the album's cause.

So far, the only artists aside from Evancho who are confirmed to perform at the event are the Radio City Rockettes and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Of Evancho's five previous albums, four of them also reached the top spot on the Billboard Classical chart, while the fifth peaked at No. 2.

Further detracting from Trump's Twitter boast is the fact that none of Evancho's other studio albums have returned to the Billboard 200 chart following the news of her upcoming inauguration performance, according to Billboard.
