Frantic and controversial ending sends Arsenal into second place

Michael Owen delivers prediction on Chelsea v Hull

Wenger was sent off after Burnley scored an injury-time penalty at the Emirates on Sunday - only for Alexis Sanchez to score from the spot himself after eight minutes of added time to grab a 2-1 win.

It nearly proved costly as substitute Francis Coquelin conceded a penalty from which Burnley equalised in the 93rd minute, but Alexis Sanchez netted a dramatic victor five minutes later after Arsenal were awarded a penalty of their own.

Burnley looked like taking their second point on the road this season when substitute Francis Coquelin tripped Ashley Barnes and Andre Gray powered home the first spot-kick in stoppage time to cancel out Shkodran Mustafi's header.

The sending off energised Burnley, who pushed for the equaliser.

- Arsenal have scored a 90th-minute victor in both of their Premier League games against Burnley this season. "I said something that you hear every day in football".

"I regret everything", Wenger said.

From the touchline, Andy Halliday assisted the unsighted referee Jon Moss and indicated the foul but replays showed that he had missed that Koscielny was in an offside position as Alexis Sanchez crossed the ball in.

On Sunday afternoon against Burnley, the Emirates stadium saw a most flawless example of how Arsenal can make life ridiculously hard for themselves. Overall nine times out of 10 you are not sent to the stands for that but if I am I am and I should have shut up completely. I thought I could watch it from the corridor.

The Swiss midfielder was imperious before seeing red for a reckless two-footed tackle on Steven Defour, and losing him allowed Burnley to gain a foothold in the game.

It was Xhaka's second red card of the season, having also been sent off by Moss in their home win over Swansea last October.

Arsenal deserve credit for coming back with ten men, and their tenacity and spirit was rewarded by Sanchez's late victor from the penalty spot, but let's get one thing straight: it should not have stood.

The game became tense with Arsenal believing in the unthinkable and their pressure paid off following Ben Mee's foul on Laurent Koscielny.

German worldwide Shkodran Mustafi scored his first Premier League goal when he got on the end of a corner from his compatriot, Mesut Ozil. "It's offside. As simple as that". They have mustered a meagre three goals away from home, half the tally of the next most goal-shy away team in the division and the lowest figure of any club across Europe's top five leagues.
