Decapitated Body ID'd as Missing 16-Year-Old

Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett has identified the victim as 16-year-old Lee Manuel Viloria-Paulino.

"All the work and information that was gathered in trying to locate him will now be used in the new effort to bring to justice the person or persons responsible for Mr. Viloria-Paulino's death", Rivera said.

Local authorities along with state detectives and the Essext District Attorney's office will continue to investigate the incident.

Family members feared for the worst and mourned their loss after the high school sophomore at Lawrence High School was identified on Friday.

Police were called to the Merrimack River at McCabe Court around 2:45 p.m. Thursday after a woman walking her dog found the body.

Lawrence police also believe that there is no greater threat to the community. "This is not a random act".

In a statement, the DA's office called the death shocking.

The teenager's aunt Christine Michaud told the Boston Herald earlier Friday: 'I want people to know that he wasn't just another (expletive) kid from Lawrence'.

On Thursday, Carlos Viloria, 44, of North Andover, told reporters that he believed the victim was his son. Blodgett said the incident is "isolated" and said the public is not at risk.
