Steven Adams: Adams nearing $100 million deal w

The Oklahoma City Thunder commit to long-term deals with center Steven Adams and guard Victor Oladipo.

If they don't, Adams will become a restricted free agent at the end of the National Basketball Association season.

Roberson has emerged over the past year as a versatile defensive player for the Thunder.

According to a report from The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Thunder are talking with Steven Adams and Victor Oladipo about rookie contract extensions. The second (the payroll) is more solidified with Adams and Oladipo signed. He is now averaging 13.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game with the Thunder through their 3-0 start to the year. Oklahoma City won 113-96. The Thunder drafted him with the 12th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. In comparison, the Atlanta Hawks extended the contract of guard Kent Bazemore for four seasons and $70 million (average salary $17.5 million). In three-plus seasons with the Thunder, he has averaged 6.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks.

"There are good people here and it's a really good organisation", Adams said.

Since Adams or Oladipo would be restricted, the Thunder would have had the right to match any offer the players received from another team. They have a tough back to back looming at the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday (NZT) followed by the much-anticipated matchup against Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors on Friday (NZT). He came to the Thunder via a draft night trade in June, involving Serge Ibaka. He was named to the 2016 U.S. Select Team this past summer. He has posted averages of 16 points, four rebounds and four assists with the Magic.

"I just felt like it was a great fit", Oladipo said. Extending Adams and Oladipo probably takes the Thunder out of 2017 free agency. "Who wouldn't want to play with him for a long time?"
