Chiefs regrouping after 5-game win streak snapped by Bucs

Tampa Bay (5-5) suddenly is right in the NFC South playoff hunt.

When the final whistle blew, the Bucs left Kansas City with a 19-17 victory.

The outcome ended a five-game winning streak for the Chiefs (7-3) and stopped a 10-game stretch of victories for the home team at Arrowhead Stadium.

The turnover did occur on the opening drive, as Kansas City slowly improves their defense at the start of games.

"You know we've got another big challenge next week".

The game was a back and forth battle with very few points. The season opener of the 1993 season saw Kansas City travel to Tampa in the first Chiefs game for future Hall of Famers, quarterback Joe Montana and running back Marcus Allen. "That's a difference-maker".

He then earned a game ball against the Chiefs with an end zone interception that cost Kansas City - trailing 12-10 at the time - a chance to take a fourth-quarter lead. The defense still held Tampa Bay to under 20 points.

He has Tampa Bay off to an encouraging 4-5 record after a dominant win over the Bears, and the franchise is now eyeing its first winning season since 2010.

Coordinator Bob Sutton has been one of the best at adjusting his defenses week to week, as well as in game.

The first words from Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid Monday cut straight to a key reason for his team's 19-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arrowhead Stadium. Since Week Five, however, it's the Buccaneers who have been the league's best in that category.

Peters hasn't been able to practice all week due to a hip pointer. The Bucs' two takeaways had resulted in two touchdowns.

Must be nice to get a free "home" game courtesy of the crowd. "It's life and when you lose someone special like that, for him to be out here to be a part of this team, it just shows you the type of brotherhood that we have here". One of the biggest reasons the Bucs maintained success for the whole game was an incredible third down conversion rate. Since a Week Seven win at San Francisco, he is nine of 10 on field goal tries and 12 of 13 on point-after attempts. They didn't realize that their "war chant" is the same as Florida State's, the chant that used to pump up Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston in his college days. The Chiefs took over at their own 30, meaning the Bucs gained only 6 yards of field position.

Dallas, which came in with the NFL's No. 1 rushing offense at 161 yards per game, had just 45 in the first half. In addition to the Buccaneers, Arizona, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle and Tennessee have all done it once, and Washington has done it twice. Wide receiver Mike Evans, ranked among the league leaders coming into the game, finished with six catches for 105 yards. Below are all six Buccaneers who have hit double digits in 100-yard receiving games, along with how many total games they played with the team and in which game played they got their 11th century mark.
