Carson Wentz, Doug Pederson celebrate Eagles win over Steelers

RBs thriving but Ryan Mathews still'the guy when healthy

Count Doug Pederson among the many who only dreamed the Eagles would hit the bye with a ideal record, much less be one of just two NFC teams to ace their first three games. It starts with me.

Pederson also knows how important it is to have a problem-solving quarterback, as opposed to a quarterback who causes problems.

The momentum remained in the Eagles' favor for most of the game, but especially after a touchdown on the opening drive of the third quarter.

Safety Rodney McLeod has two interceptions. "He managed the game; he makes throws; he does the checks and audibles. I'm not sure how much freedom he has but just look at the score". That season ended at 10-6, but the Eagles did not make the playoffs despite double-digit wins.

Antonio Brown had a bunch of targets (18) and catches (12), but they did little to change the outcome.

This year's victor for the bragging rights were the Eagles- and they won by a long shot. Why, again, would anyone take a kick out of the end zone?

The Eagles defense still has not allowed a touchdown pass.

"I was reading the other side of the field, somebody stepped across my face from the Steelers and I just stepped up and turned into scramble mode".

Who saw this coming? "Sproles made a sweet turn up field and anytime you can put the ball in his hands, something special can happen". In the past two games he has had 20 runs of 1 yard or fewer. They outcoached us. They outplayed us.

Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz has played better than anyone could have ever expected and owns a 103.7 passer rating while completing almost 65 percent of his passes. And you wondered if he'd ever be able to protect himself.

"It was so much fun", said offensive coordinator Frank Reich. Reich, as a former quarterback, knows that you can not defend those plays.

Let's be honest about what really has happened in the first month of the season. Everything was from the pocket and clean. "And I like how it's unfolding". "They're going to see we have to tackle better against the screen". It seemed that every play the Steelers produced on defense, a player would get injured. That's how these top guys prepare. Some said they never paid attention to outside expectations, but even they likely could not have not envisioned a 31-point victory over the Steelers or this type of start to the season. The comparison stems from Smith having worked with Doug Pederson, the Eagles' first-year coach, who had been Smith's position coach in Kansas City under Andy Reid. The Steelers defense, on paper, is actually the worst of the group between them, the Browns and the Bears.

Don't worry Steelers fans, you still have those six Super Bowl titles to fall back on. The Steelers allowed only two sacks in the first two games combined. Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw six interception in the game, including three in the end zone, as NY lost 24-3. That's some pretty strong company to be linked to after just three games.

"The biggest thing is complacency", Pederson said. There were a lot of things being said.

The Eagles battered and harassed Ben Roethlisberger all day, sacking him 4 times, forcing two fumbles, intercepting him, and holding the Steelers to just a field goal. The bottom line is we've got to keep the main thing the main thing, and that's football.
