National Voter Registration Day

Stop Trying to Shame Black People Into Seeing ‘Birth of a Nation’ This film like other tales of Black life should stand on its own merits

Each year, Americans celebrate National Voter Registration Day with a massive 50-state effort to register voters before Election Day in November.

"A lot of people who are watching the debates are already inclined to vote one way or another".

To register to vote in Texas, you can fill one out at the county clerk office, print it out online and mail it in, or submit a request to have one sent to you. Voters can register online at SBCountyElections.

"The Smith County Elections Office will be downtown on the square from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. Tuesday for National Voter Registration Day", Mrs. Nelson said. In addition, applications are also distributed by more than 80 governmental agencies throughout San Bernardino County.

Phillips says she's noticed something unusual this go round with voter registration.

Mobilize Volunteers: By partnering with nonprofits not usually engaged in voter registration drives, and amplifying existing drives through event-based recruitment and cultural outreach, National Voter Registration Day will bring together thousands of volunteers across the nation to register voters.

But some state and local governments, disingenuously concerned about virtually nonexistent vote fraud, are spending time and money to purge the voter rolls of citizens they suspect might not be eligible to vote.

Early voting is for every registered voter. Only 57.5% of Americans voted in the 2012 election - let's change that.

Individuals who aren't sure if they are now registered can check their status online through the Texas Electionet Administration System by entering their Texas driver's license number; voter unique identified (VUID) which is found on voter registration certificates; or first and last name. The first thing you need to know is that if you don't have some sort of identification for the state in which you live, you should probably secure that. "You have some excited [students] realizing how important of an election this is".

Early voting is also set to begin on October 12.

According to the Pew Center on the States, Colorado has the highest percentage of voter registration in the country at 87 percent.
