Investigator: Suspect confessed to killing 2 nuns

Sanders is charged with capital murder in the deaths of Sisters Paula Merrill and Margaret Held. Sanders was in court, clad in an orange prison jumpsuit and seated next to his attorney, while LeCarus Oliver, agent with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, testified regarding his confession to the murders.

"Yeah we can look at the positive stuff they did in the community and the people they helped", said Sister Paula Merrill's nephew, David Merrill.

Sanders was arrested August 26. According to Fox News, Oliver testified that Sanders washed up after the murders of the nuns because "his hands were sticky".

Sanders told investigators that he went through the back door of the sisters' home, uninvited.

According to the New York Daily News, the District Attorney's office has not decided what punishment they will be seeking, but friends and coworkers of the women do not wish for Sanders to be given the death penalty.

Investigators say that Sanders was living in a shed across from the nuns home for about three days before their murder. Oliver said he had not.

The sadistic MS man who killed two nuns last month confessed to fatally stabbing them and stealing their auto, prosecutors announced Friday.

Friday's hearing was to determine whether there is enough evidence against Sanders to send the case to a grand jury, which will consider indictment.

The appearance was just a preliminary hearing, and police say that Sanders has actually already confessed to this crime, but when the prosecutor brought that up, Sanders shook his head "no". Durant Municipal Judge Jim Arnold ruled there is, and he denied Carter's request that bond be set.

He's accused of killing two nuns in their home. He said the crime could have occurred late August 24 or early August 25. As of Friday, Sanders had not been charged with raping either one of the nuns. Held was buried in Wisconsin, where she was a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis in Milwaukee.
