CM Punk battered, submitted in UFC debut

However, now that his MMA debut has come and gone, and the 37-year-old former WWE star has actually entered the octagon - which many doubted he would do - the general sentiment appears to have changed. Gall dropped some big punches and then finished with a rear-naked choke. Gall won his fight and seized the opportunity to call out CM Punk in his post-fight speech. Even despite suffering some injuries in his training to fight in the UFC, CM Punk showed up to his first bout ready to take Mickey just didn't go so hot.

"Just like I said with Brock, having your first fight in the UFC is tough and you [saw] tonight, even if it's against a guy who is 2-0". This was a hell of a mountain to try and climb. It doesn't mean I'm going to stop.

Mickey Gall and Sage Northcutt made their way to the UFC through company president Dana White's reality series Lookin' for a Fight. I will be back, believe it or not.

"In interviews and stuff like that, he would say things - speaking about himself saying he didn't belong in the UFC and that he didn't belong in the main card", Punk said at the event's official post-fight press conference. "This was the most fun I've had in my life, the second best night of my life after marrying my wife".

Gall's victory leaves him unbeaten, following a similar quick-fire victory over Mike Jackson back in February. The Gall-Punk fight was delayed earlier this year when Punk required back surgery. He scored a takedown within the first 10 seconds of the Welterweight match and that more or less signaled the end for Punk, who was overwhelmed by Gall's fury. "With that said, this might sound gimmicky, but I'm no gimmick fighter", Gall said. "So I think he will have another fight". I'm not going to shelve it and leave it in the middle of the street.

"I've got someone I want next".
