Basketball Hall of Fame unveils new jackets

O'Neal took center stage in Iverson's absence at the start of the event Thursday. It was always complicated, and nearly never fair, but that's how it goes for someone who forces us to rethink our assumptions. He was blown away by the task of having to fill Julius Erving's shoes in Philadelphia and what it meant to carry on that torch for the Philadelphia 76ers.

As a freshman, Iverson lead the Big East in steals, while averaging 20 points and 5 assists per contest. You'd have to, like, really jump to block it, and you still could never block it.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is filled with greatest names from the sport's history whether that be the WNBA, college, Europe, Asia or the NBA. "I never had a problem with him - well I did one time when he skipped a class". Yet basically singe-handedly bringing the 76ers to the NBA Finals and stealing a game from the Los Angeles Lakers is still outright fantastic in my eyes.

"When it came to basketball, obviously I wanted to me like Mike". I was poor all my life. Several NBA teams even wore special uniforms for the Chinese New Year. Everybody that was with me throughout the ride, I want them to be proud of themselves for helping me get to such a high level.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - When Shaquille O'Neal was 10 years old, his father made a prediction.

"I don't know how you miss this", O'Neal said, before altering his voice to spoof Iverson's infamous "practice" rant. I still dreamt about it, though. "But he is a great guy off the court, too, more than just a great player". "I felt it was enough being who my mom loved". So many people supported me and believed in me. But I was good as a kid, if I do say so myself.

Yuan Fang: After the Sydney Olympics in 2000, I was 15 and in person when you arrived at the General Administration of Sports of China.

Me sadly bragging about my Park District basketball career has a meaning, though. On Friday he paid tribute to the player that he has idolized throughout during his ascent as an overachieving undersized guard: Allen Iverson. He was as fun as anyone to watch and it made me realize that height on the basketball court could be overcome.

When I finally met him, I realized two things: he does speak English and not only does he speak it, he has an awesome sense of humor.

"I don't know any first team All-NBA (player) that comes off the bench". He loved Brown but clashed with him. He likened playing against fellow 2016 enshrinee Shaquille O'Neal as "whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger".

And of course, Iverson thanked his family.

The Basketball Hall of Fame said Iverson had "travel problems". He talked about how Larry Brown's coaching helped him become an MVP, an All-Star, and an All-NBA player.

"That's a great feeling for me", he said. Ming took a while to find his feet, but in 2003, the arrival of coach Jeff Van Gundy marked a change in his fortunes - Van Gundy installed an offense that looked remarkably like the one that the Olajuwon-centric Rockets had used so effectively a decade earlier, parking Yao in the post and letting the offense run through him.

Pound for pound he's the greatest player to ever play in the National Basketball Association, and he's a testament to how smaller point guards can still be great. His rabid performance eventually earned him the first overall spot in the 1996 NBA Draft.

I don't think you would be so quick to think that if you were at that press conference at Wells Fargo Center in April.
