Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi Evacuated After Jewelry Store Robbery

Cars fill the parking lot at Twelve Oaks Mall in early November

The director of public safety in Novi said the robbery was a "smash and grab" type of robbery, and there is no active shooter.

The Detroit Free Press reports that a jewelry store display case was shattered.

Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi was put on lockdown on Saturday afternoon after there was a smash-and-grab robbery at Tapper's Jewelry. "At this time it is believed that three male suspects entered the mall while a fourth male suspect was waiting outside in a Chrysler 200". Social media accounts indicate the sound of the breaking glass sounded like gunshots. "The two others were last seen running away in unknown directions".

Police did not confirm whether or not there were any injuries.

Molloy has also tweeted that the mall is locked down while police investigate the robbery.

On Twitter, multiple patrons at the mall reported a heavy police presence and some speculated that a shooting had taken place.

Police from Novi and neighboring departments are at the mall, securing the exits.
