In Islamabad, speaking in the presence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain said the country will continue to support Kashmiris in their bid for the right to self-determination.

Jalali further said that Pakistan will go to any extent to promote terrorism and to foster terrorism in Kashmir.

In a provocative remark, Pakistan High Commissioner yesterday said the Pakistan is dedicating its Independence Day to Kashmir's freedom and will continue to extend its support to the people of the state. He said that U.S. wants to see a stable country and will work together to make Pakistan a developed country.

"India is exposing Pakistan at global level and has made it clear that talks will be now about the repression of people in PoK and how they can get rid of this", BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

Two days after Pakistan, through a note verbale, proposed sending supplies to Jammu and Kashmir, India on Sunday called the offer "absurd" and said that the region has received enough of Pakistan's "trademark exports", including terrorism, infiltrators and narcotics.

"Today, we join the Pakistani community - here in Canada, in Pakistan, and around the world - in celebrating Pakistan's 70th Independence Day".

"A communication was apparently delivered to our High Commission in Islamabad on August 12".

Hussain addressed the people during the special flag hoisting ceremony here and mostly talked about internal challenges and importance of eliminating militancy. New Delhi's sharp reaction came in response to a communication from Pakistan's Foreign Ministry proposing to send supplies to Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

India-Pakistan ties have become frosty after largescale violence broke out in Jammu and Kashmir following the killing of Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani on July 8.

Basit, who also hoisted the national flag at the ceremony, said it was incumbent upon the global community to ensure implementation of the relevant United Nations resolutions to settle the longstanding Kashmir issue.
