Mourinho To Extend Contract Of Much-Maligned Manchester United Midfielder

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice and Paul Pogba excelled in his first game back at Manchester United as the teams high-profile offseason signings starred in a 2-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League here.

However, the Portuguese manager revealed after last night's 2-0 win over Southampton that he clarified Fellaini's future immediately after he was announced as the Man United boss.

Pogba won four successive Serie A titles and finished as a Champions League runner-up during a decorated spell at the Italian giants.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic continued his impressive run of form for the Red Devils as he got both goals in each half of the match.

Furthermore, he already thinks in those couple of games, United have looked at their strongest since Ferguson retired in 2013.

He continued: "We've come away from the idea of having two in midfield and letting them do everything - one sit and one go forward and vice-versa - and I think he can do that for United". The more organised the team is, the easier it is for players to feel confident. The way the fans react, it is not just due to their passion for the club, it is also because they are happy with the signs of this evolution.

'At this moment, it's even more important to show evolution in our game and I think we are showing that. I said to him, "Forget everything you read". Yes, I've scored three goals so far and I'm happy for that but it is only the beginning. "I arrive in the dressing room after the match and I was happy but then I become sad, because I arrive there and all the other guys are there in their nice Paul Smith suit but not a tracksuit, not even playing, not even being on the bench".

The good times appear to be back at Old Trafford, with Ibrahimovics towering header in the 36th minute and penalty in the 52nd earning United a second straight victory to open the league season under new manager Jose Mourinho. "I want to win games, but I want to do it in an attractive manner", he added.

All of Mourinho's successful Premier League title campaigns were won from the front.

Mourinho named Rooney, Ibrahimovic and £89m record signing Paul Pogba as his three preferred penalty takers and allowed them to determine their own pecking order.
