Ibra scores twice as United secure 2nd straight Premier League win

Manchester United are like a "puzzle" that will come together in time, Zlatan Ibrahimovic said after scoring twice in a 2-0 win against Southampton at Old Trafford on Friday.

With four goals in only three games he has already shown his worth and proved that he is still at the top of his game despite being 34 years old.

He's happy for Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney to grab the headlines and let £89million record signing Paul Pogba do the less celebrated but probably even more important dirty work behind them.

He added: "I don't know which position he played". He has to play with freedom. "The supporters at United are wonderful and I have this feeling in every game that I've played that they are the 12th player on the field", he said.

It was Ibrahimovic's third goal in two league games and guaranteed maximum points for manager Jose Mourinho on his first appearance in the home dugout. I think he bought a lot to the team.

Pogba's night started with a bad first touch as he gifted Saints possession in the opening seconds, but his swaggering response thrilled his new manager. "His first action was bad, he loses an easy ball and gives a counter-attack and a free kick to the opponent". He's so comfortable in the skin of a star, so confident, the way he plays.

The team hasn't taken any refined stats into account during their game, players lack clarity and they are still unsure what their new boss is after.

José Mourinho is apparently Marouane Fellaini's number one fan.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has promised his fringe players game-time after the September worldwide break. "A player that was feeling not loved". Everyone was saying he wasn't for me.

"I told him just simply "forget everything you read, forget everything, with me you don't leave for sure". He's playing well, with (Michael) Carrick, with (Ander) Herrera, with Paul. I think he's a fantastic player, no doubt about it. I am happy for the team. The more mature you become - I have two kids now - you take on more responsibility.

The 28-year old has largely cast a divisive figure at Old Trafford since joining the club in 2013, representing the struggles the club have faced since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. "We played good football with good opportunities", said Puel.

Puel has introduced a new system featuring a diamond midfield, but he downplayed the significance of the tactical change. "That is not important, the important thing is to win", said Ibrahimovic.

"We are laying the foundations of the team for this season and, you know, those wins help us to create an optimistic atmosphere and make things go well".
