'Han Solo' Director Shares Punny Blaster Photo, Wins Star Wars Day

Four Things To Remember On Star Wars Day May the Fourth Be With You

Perhaps the most fiercely opposed change to the original trilogy of Star Wars films wasn't digitizing Jabba the Hutt and wasn't including unnecessarily digital scenes at various points throughout all three films.

In a bid to keep that steady stream of excitement flowing, director Chris Miller took to Twitter to showcase what is ostensibly the first image for Disney and Lucasfilm's Han Solo Anthology Movie. While there is very little we know about the plot, this spinoff will provide an origin story for this beloved smuggler, before he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker at the Mos Eisley Cantina in A New Hope. We'll be sure to keep you posted with more updates as we continue to celebrate this iconic galaxy far, far away, all day long. The glimpse at the prop serves as the first look into the Han Solo project for fans.

Miller and his co-director Phil Lord have not announced the actor who will be taking over for Harrison Ford to play a younger version of Solo in the film yet, but recent rumours have identified Hail, Caesar! star Alden Ehrenreich as a clear frontrunner.

Written by Star Wars vet Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan, the Han Solo movie is set to be released on May 25th, 2018.

Along with the image, Miller included the message "Can't wait to get 'shooting!'" Not a bad pun, and it may indicate that the Han Solo movie is set to start filming soon.
