FA Cup: Emenike, Moses lift West Ham

West Ham United's talisman Dimitri Payet was the inspiration as they secured a place in their first FA Cup quarter-final for five years with a comfortable 5-1 win at Blackburn.

The Hammers will appeal the sending off but it didn't cost them here as former Fenerbache man Emenike got his second on his first start for the club.

City manager Manuel Pellenrini warned that he would play a weakened team as the FA Cup is "not a real game" for him this season, and followed through on that.

Kouyate returned from his concussion but was sent off in the 75th minute of Sunday's FA Cup tie against Blackburn.

Dimitri Payet put West Ham ahead with a free kick from 25 metres.

Despite top-scoring for Nigeria and leading the Super Eagles to Africa Cup of Nations glory in February 2013, his following two seasons at Spartak had only yielded nine goals and the hitman subsequently moved back to Fenerbahce in August 2013 for €13m.

Since that triumph, however, Randolph has been restricted to just three FA Cup appearances for his club, but is set to be restored to the starting line-up for their Fifth Round tie with Blackburn today. "We knew it was a hard chance to carry on in the FA Cup".

"Up until the second goal I thought we were doing really well".

The West Ham goals flowed after Ben Marshall had handed Blackburn the lead, a double Emmanuel Emenike and a Victor Moses strike contributing to a classy display from the visitors. We have pace with Emenike, Moses, Antonio and we have Payet and Lanzini.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic. "We are making steps (forward)", Hiddink said.

"I haven't seen better players than that".

The Scot's side are eight points above the drop zone, a comfortable cushion, yet Lambert still chose to make five changes - to Bilic's four - resting Corry Evans, Grant Hanley and Jordi Gomez, who would usually make the strongest XI here. "I was with the Irish team when we played a friendly against England but I didn't play, I just watched", he added.

"I have to get some poetry lessons to describe his importance to us". It will be competitive for all of us [goalkeepers] so the more high-profile games I get to play hopefully the performances will speak for themselves. "They've got momentum at the minute and you wouldn't put it past them".
